Summer Concert ‘Feel the Spirit’ with John Rutter

‘Feel the Spirit’ by John Rutter is a Cycle of Spirituals for mezzo-soprano and mixed choir: ‘Joshua fit the battle of Jericho, Steal away, I got a robe, Sometimes I feel like a motherless child, Ev’ry time I feel the spirit, Deep river, When the saints go marching in’.  The choir will be performing this work under the composer’s direction, with guest solist Cheryl Forbes mezzo-soprano, at our Summer Concert in the Mackintosh Church on Sunday 14th June 2015 at 7.00pm. This Concert is part of Glasgow’s ‘West End Festival 2015’.

In addition to ‘Feel the Spirit’, there will be shorter works performed under the baton of our Musical Director, Paul Keohone, all with an African and/or American theme. These works include ‘Songs of a Rainbow Nation’ and ‘The Gospel Train’ arranged by Alexander L’Estrange, Aaron Copland’s ‘Zion’s Walls’ and  ‘Dry Your Tears, Afrika’ from Amistad by John Williams.

Tickets priced £10 each, children 12 and under go Free, can be purchased from any member of the choir and at the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Shop in Queen’s Cross church.
