‘Swing Into Summer’

Following another successful performance at the Glasgow Music Festival in March, at which the Choir came second in its category just being pipped by one point by another respected community choir from Glasgow, Merchant Voices, the Choir is now busy rehearsing for a number of appearances in spring and early summer. First will be a guest appearance with The Glasgow Phoenix Choir at a Gala Charity Concert in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Friday 19th May 2017 at 7.30pm. Tickets priced £10 – £17 can be obtained from the Box Office at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. All proceeds from this Concert will be donated to The Royal British Legion and Poppyscotland.

Next up will be the Choir’s Summer Concert ‘Swing into Summer’ which will be held in St John’s-Renfield Church, 22 Beaconsfield Road, Kelvindale, G2 0NY on Sunday 18th June 2017 at 7.00pm. The programme will include works by Mozart, Karl Jenkins, Bob Chilcott, Howard Goodall, Verdi and a new work written for the choir by Claire Griffin. The Choir will be performing again with a number of other Glasgow Choirs at this year’s ‘Voice2@thebandstand’, a joint City of Glasgow Music and West End Festival event, held at the Bandstand in Kelvingrove Park on Saturday, 24th June 2017 from 12.00noon through to 7.00pm. Entry to this event is Free.

Finally, during the week 19th – 25th June 2017, the Choir will be contributing to a National Theatre of Scotland community engagement production entitled ‘Submarine Time Machine’. This will take place on the Forth & Clyde Canal at 125 Craighall Road near the NTS Rockvilla Centre. There will be daily performances on Tuesday 20th, Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd June at 10.30am and on Saturday 24th June at 2.30pm with two performances on Sunday 25th June at 11.00am and 2.30pm. The Mackintosh Choir enters the Glasgow Music Festival

On Tuesday 14th March 2017 at 7.30pm, the Choir will be competing once again in the Glasgow Music Festival in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. This year will perhaps be even more of a challenge for the Choir as it seeks to retain its position of first in its class gained at last year’s event. Come along and hear the choir and some of the other magnificent choirs from around Glasgow as they perform two contrasting pieces attempting to out do their rivals in the Mixed Choirs Class to be judged the best in class. Tickets priced £5 Adult and £3 Child may be purchased at the venue.

Christmas Concert Sunday 11th December @ 7.00pm in St John’s-Renfield Church.

As the clocks go back and autumn turns to winter, it’s time to think about ways to bring light to some of those dark and dreary nights of December. Well here is one way to enjoy a happy and joyful night in the run up to Christmas – come to the Mackintosh Choir Christmas Concert on Sunday 11th December!

Tickets are on sale now for our Christmas Concert on Sunday 11th December  at 7.00pm at St John’s-Renfield Church, 22 Beaconsfield Road, Kelvindale, Glasgow, G12 0NY.

The programme will feature a wide variety of traditional and contemporary carols with many familiar and well know settings but also a few surprising and beautiful new settings. The Carols include works by John Rutter, Our Patron, Handel, Andre Williams, Chris Hutchings, Friorik Walker, J. Pierpont, Joyce Eilers and Howard Goodall with some audience participation in a few favourite well known carols.

Tickets priced £10 each, children 12 and under go Free, can be purchased from any member of the choir.
